Masahiro is the assistant boy scout troop leader and soon-to-be-husband of our cub scout pack leader, Bonnie. They are a great couple and make the boy scout experience a great one for both kids and parents.

- What made me decide to move my family to Japan? I grew up in Hawaii among many different cultures, and when I was a kid my mom sent me and my siblings to Japanese school after our regular school - we were the only haoles or white kids there. I learned some Japanese before we quit in sixth grade. But perhaps more of an influence were all my friends with whom I would attend bon dances, go to temple, and generally just spend time with their families. It made me appreciate my generic white American culture while opening up new worlds.
